Where can I buy kettlebells and other fitness equipment in Geneva Switzerland?

I'm looking to buy some home fitness equipment for our place in France and kettlebells, plyo balls, etc would be at the top of the list. Any ideas?|||A few options:

There are quite a few sports stores in malls in Geneva. The malls are:

Balexert (mall), Praille (mall), MPark and in Meyrin Shopping center next to Media Markt (in the same building with Pfster). All of these sell your standard equipment for working out.

Next you have downtown. Here I can only think of two: Manor (small but has a number of products) and Oschner on the Rue Bas.

If you want to save a penny, you can also check out these websites, which are the trusted websites for buying and selling used stuff in Switzerland:

www.anibis.ch

http://www.petitesannonces.ch/

www.ricardo.ch

The last one is 'like ebay' but ebay isnt as popular over here as it is elsewhere.

Last but not least you could try Amazon.fr That might sound loony but they just started FREE SHIPPING to Switzerland which has changed my life (for books anyway).

Hope that helps!|||I'd try looking online; Ebay for instance. Just watch out for shipping charges. The heavier the package, the more the shipping charges. Of course, not all online stores charge for shipping, so look around.

How do you keep up with your fitness routine?

I want to lose some weight in the area from my hips to my waist. Whenever i've tried to do so before, I always forget untill the most unopertune times.. So I have two questions..

1. What should I do to lose this weight?

2. How do you remind yourself, and keep up your fitness routine?|||Watch what you eat and do your cardio absolutely first thing in the morning so nothing can interfere with the time you set aside to workout. The time you set aside to workout is an appointment you keep for yourself. DO NOT allow anything to interfere with it-just like a hair appointment-only better.|||well i always put my timer at the same time to do work outs and i also printed out a paper of my xcersice routine and taped it to a very visible wall in my room|||I do at when i find time|||get a fitness partner

What is the best way to regain fitness using a treadmill?

I have to get my fitness going again, and was wondering what is the best way using a treadmill. Like, should i do long periods of time on a lower speed, or high speeds for a shorter time? etc.|||Actually a bit of both. Start out by flat walking. Then go to inclined walking then to flat running to inclined running. Set the speeds so that you feel challenged. 20-40 minutes a day should really do it.

What does a measure of your cardiorespiratory endurance tell a fitness professional?

a. your aerobic fitness

b. what type of exercises you have been doing

c. your anaerobic fitness

d.how long you can sustain a weightlifting program|||the answer is A

measuring cardiorespiratory endurance simply means doing a test that measures the ability of your body to uptake and utilize oxygen (thus "aerobic")

its called cardiorespiratory because your respiratory system uptakes the oxygen (and exhales the CO2) and your cardiovascular system sends it to the muscles needing the oxygen.

one could argue that B is somewhat true since typically one can relate fitness to a particular type of exercise, but cardiorespiratory endurance can vary due to other factors and not necesarily how you exercise

D could also be somewhat true since theres usually a direct correlation between cardiorespiratory endurance and your ability to "sustain" a weightlifting program, although someone can have huge cardio fitness and not last long doing weights (for example a marathon runner)

What fitness excercises do you do in high school?

In going into grade 10th and we are required to take P.E. I'm a very un-fit girl. I don't do any sort of excercise which i know is bad. But, i'm wondering what type of fitness would you do and how often ? ex: mile long runs, beep tests.|||In my highschool Gym Class freshman year..... back in 07... we started off by jogging around the track.... we played tennis, badminton, we play baskettball, volleyball.... we had a pacer test... which basically was doing baskettball suicides in the gym.... and we swam...swimming.

If i wanted to own my own fitness gym what would i major in college?

Im in high school now but i wanted to start planning and getting ideas of what i want to do. I was thinking of starting up my own fitness gym and doing something with nutrition and dietetics. Any suggestions of what i should major in or what colleges would be the best choice? I live on the east coast now but i am open to going anywhere. California would be my first choice :)

thanks so much for your time this would really help!|||It depends on what exactly you want to do. If you intend to work at your gym as a trainer or nutrition counselor, you'll need to be qualified to do that. This would be kind of like having your own practice as a nutritionist or something, with enhanced facilities for your clients to work in. It would also probably have lower start-up costs since you could start smaller and maybe wouldn't have to hire many employees. However, if you wanted to expand you would eventually need to hire people.

If you want to own the business and run it, hiring other people to work directly with your customers, then you should make sure to take some classes in small business management or entrepreneurship, but you don't have to actually major in them unless you want to. As an entrepreneur, nobody is going to be judging you based on your major, it's not like you have to meet an employer's requirements. Just take all the courses that you think will teach you something valuable about either fitness or business, and major in whichever one you find most interesting.|||look for the best fitness schools. i go to Univeristy of La-Crosse in Wisconsin. its widely reconized around the Mid West as one of the best fitness schools so they have great fitness programs/ sports managment and physical education programs. and they have good buisness classes as well so alot of people i know will either double major in fitness and buisness or major in one and minor in the other. if your set on East Coast look around at the websites of what the colleges programs are all about.|||If you are planning to own and run a business, I advise that you take business courses. Take minors or classes on nutrition, etc. but unless you know how to actually run a business, the odds are against you making it work.

What are easy ways to get cardio fitness in 5 times a week or more?

What are easy ways to get cardio fitness in 5 times a week or more?|||It depends on what you mean by "easy." Whether it's easy or difficult is a matter of individual perspective. Some consider a half-mile walk onerous; others consider a ten-mile run exhilarating. Try to look at your exercise program as fun, not drudgery.

Let's look at some of the best ways to attain cardiovascular fitness. Swimming is terrific. It uses all the muscles of your body, and water's buoyancy helps prevent stress injuries to the ankles and knees.

Cross-country skiing is also great. If you don't live in an area that has snow, try a cross-country skiing machine.

Rope skipping fits the bill too. Nearly all top boxers use it to help them last the full twelve rounds of their fights. It is cheap, convenient, portable and extremely effective.

Bicycling is good for cardiovascular development, but only works the lower part of the body, and can be damaging to your back as you lean forward to cut down on wind resistance. I am a long-distance unicyclist, and we keep our backs straight during our runs. The advantage over bicyling is that by using your upper body for balance, it too gets an aerobic workout.

Aerobic dancing is also a terrific overall cardiovascular exercise. There is no reason to not have fun with this. Turn on your favorite music and take it at your own pace. You will find yourself naturally increasing that pace as you continue doing it regularly.

Please choose among the list for something that you can enjoy. As long as you have fun with something, you will continue doing it. Too many failed exercise programs can be traced to lack of having a good time with it.|||Try this http://61b5cl40x-0k6qmz57nev-9x0x.hop.clickbank.net/ ,you don`t want to be to easy ;))

What are the best certifications for personal fitness trainers?

I have a full-time career in a non-related industry, but have always been interested in exercise and fitness and would like to learn more with an eye on possibly training people part-time.|||There are a ton of certifications out there. Choose carefully. Alot of them are a complete waste of money. Try to find a certification that is accredited by a third party such as NCCA/NOCA or IACET. This is really the only way to sort out the good from the bad unless you are very familiar with the industry. Personally, with having been in the fitness industry for a little while now - I believe the best certification company is IFPA. www.ifpa-fitness.com. They certify people not just all over the U.S. but the world. I have had nothing but excellent stuff to say about the guys at IFPA.. Their next fitness conference is overseas in Bali. Lookin forward to it.

How about the zumba fitness dvd and Does it suitable for fitness?

i want to lose weight ,but have no time, just want do it at home,

how about the zumba fitness? Does it work?|||I personally find Zumba amazing.

It has exercises/dance moves that works you're entire body, in a funner way than hitting the gym.

I also like to do it with a couple of friends to make it easy, and then you are more accountable and more likely t!o be motivated.

Combining social activities and exercise is a good way too stay motivated too|||Zumba is the perfect workout for you. And trust me you dont need a special diet with Zumba... this is because you can loose up to 1000 calories an hour doing zumba.. every zumba move is made to work your entire body, from arms,to stomach, legs, everything. even better do it with more people =]

|||Zumba is a great exercise. It is all cardio and that is the best way to lose weight. You may also want to consider taking supplements to help speed the process along. GlycoCarn or any protein would work!

What fitness requirements do i need to make it to the top level of rowing?

I am currently trying to improve my fitness for rowing and i was wondering what sorts of scores/weights do Proffessionals get for these activites

1rm: Bench press

Leg press

Squat

Shoulder press

Seated row

Lat pulldown

chest press

biceps curl

Ergo's 500, 1k, 2k, 5k and 30 min

Can smoking half a joint affect your fitness levels?

If you smoke say half a joint can it negatively affect your fitness for sprints or stamina for a whole match?

What if it were half a j that you didn't entirely inhale, but only half breathed in, like the honourable Bill Clinton?|||Yes. Don't do it.|||Not in my opinion, but a doctor would tell you otherwise. BUT doctors don't know everything and every time I go to the doctor they tell me I look/sound great (lungs wise). Look, I've smoked for a little less than half my life (10 years). Not a lot of cigarettes, but I smoke one-four cigarettes a day (usually just one). Lately I smoke none, bc I'm all about "health" as well, but I really think it just depends upon the human being and how strong/healthy they are to begin with.

My best friend on the other hand, NEVER smokes and has never really smoked in her life. But she looks older (and is only a month older), she has less energy than me all the time (and I have KIDS and she doesn't) and she is always freakin' sick. One time we raced to the house, and I beat her by a loooong shot. I'm stronger, more physically fit, and despite the fact that we are the same size even after I had kids...she exercises and I don't. It's just the gene pool in my opinion, man. My bf is just the same as me. Never exercises (except for manual labor), smokes about a pack a day and he is in better shape and looks better than most guys his age. It may have been the water in our hometown growing up, but I highly doubt it.|||if you stick to half a joint before a match, then realistically, it won't cause any problems. but the reality is you will probably end up needing a bit more and a bit more... but if you stick to the half a joint you aren't doing yourself anymore harm than someone going out after a match and having a drink. less so in fact.|||whats the point if you dont full inhale..

the affect on fitness is not as bad as drinking or smoking

Attention fitness enthusiasts, what would get your attention in a personal trainer?

I am a certified personal trainer in the Baltimore area and I'm looking for more marketing ideas to draw in customers. Currently, I have a fitness newsletter, a website in developmental stages, and a rewards program for clients who offer me referrals. What are some other ideas that would catch your eye to work with me?|||My brother was a trainer for 24 here in Houston, and he is currently training his clients at his house.....he has this new thing he calls the buddy system.....for example say you train a person for 1 hour and charge them 50$, well what he does is he says find a buddy, and you train them at the same time, and the rate could increase or stay the same for you, but it will make it cheaper for them.....and you don't lose your time as you train them together....he says girls are down for this type of session.....He also is starting to train kids, and again multiple kids, but there, it is kind of like a camp, so you charge them whatever.....Always get all your clients meal plans so they have something to go on instead of guessing. He is making a killing!!!! I think I am going to start doing this with him. I hope this has helped you a bit.....good luck|||be more friendly... create a banner or billboard about your gym... prioritize your costumer... make them interrested to your fitness gym... educate them about fitness activities... on how to build them a good body... show them that you are really willing to help them.... encourage them and cheer them, tell them that they can really make it... for sure alot of people will patronize you and some will even reffer you... good luck pal...|||Women are drawn to day spas and I have a daughter starting in your profession as an apprenticeship and I have a masseuse daughter. Should I run the day before a fitness test?

I have an intense fitness test tomorrow morning involving sprinting and running. I rested yesterday and was planning on resting today too. I feel really good today, but I'm scared that I will feel sluggish tomorrow morning? I know I should probably keep on resting, but should I get out and run a little today?|||go on an easy half mile jog today and do like 3-4 short 30-40 meter strides. also do some stretching, but not too much. just relax.|||You feel really good today because you rested. If you really feel you have to run, jog (SLOWLY)a mile and do a few (4) 50-75 meter sprints at 75-80% of all out. Good luck!|||I'm no expert but i would just relax and maybe do some stretching and light exercise just to get you a little more ready for tomorrow.|||go for a SHORT jog. like 1/2 mile or less. and jog slowly. stretch a lot. go for a walk, maybe, too.|||Sure you can go running a day before your fitness test.|||No you should not unless you want to hurt your performance. What do you think of walking for fitness?

Lots of people walk for fitness - brisk cardiovascular walks. Do you think you need to do anything else to stay fit and strong and confident? I think walking rocks.|||I try to walk as often as I can. Usually walk about 4-5 miles at a time, averaging about 3-4 mph. Have managed to get stuck out in the open in heavy rain a few times. Besides that and occasional wildlife encounters, I agree that it rocks.|||walking is good if you want to stay in the minimal fit area. if you get in the gym a little bit it would help out a lot.|||Brisk walking can be a good starting place.. it kind of depends on your current fitness level and goals though.

If you don't break a sweat or get out of breath, it's not the best choice for fitness.

I won't say "don't walk" of course because it certainly is good for you, but I will say that you probably need to add more stuff to your regime. Swimming or weights or yoga or soccer, etc.|||I lost 5kg in a month by just walking, I made no change to my diet.|||Walking is a great way to stay in shape. It helps you heart stay active, builds muscle in your legs, and burns fat. You can add arm strengthening by carrying 3-5lb dumb bells as you walk. Swing your arms in motion and let the weights carry you with each step. But walking will only do good if you are walking for 30 minutes each time at a fast pace. Start off at 30 minutes and build it up to an hour. Then change it from time to distance. 2 miles first then as many as you can walk in 1 hour. Once you walk 3 miles in 1 hour, then reduce the time to 45 mins. I did and dropped 10 lbs in a week. Don't let a plateau in weight loss affect you. Change up the routine by changing the route you walk. Different time of day can affect it as well. Listen to music and drink water as you walk.

How fast do you get abs in fitness training ?

I have been training in fitness centre from the last 2 months, and although there is already a change in my abs, I wanted to know how long it would take to get a kind of shape (not like a professionnal bodybuilder though).

Also now I have a job, and I cannot exercise daily. I wanted to know whether 3 times a week is acceptable for keeping the shape I have acquired.

Also if you know any abs-exercises, I would be very happy if you could tell me.

Thank you very much.|||it should take about 1 more month to see a shape if you work HARD. if you workout for the same then you just keep your abs the way they are now.

3 times a week is excellant!! keep it up|||Hi my friend,

A few months ago, I've tried a new approach on abs development I've read in a ebook that I've found on the net. (a free one). It's a very valuable book.

I've learned very interesting things working for me. The author tell us what are the exercises boosting body metabolism.

When stimulated efficiently, you'll see that it will burn your excess fat very fast (a few weeks). For me, it takes about six weeks.

On the same way, you'll have to practise special exercises (which are not sit-ups, crunches everybody knows) and believe me : it works! You'll have your own "washboard" very soon ;-)

You'll find the link to download at the bottom of this page

Hoping, it will be helpful as it was for me...

What fitness plan should i be doing at the gym?

i am 20 years old, i want to start going to the gym to build muscles and do a bit of fitness. I am 6ft (approx 180 cm) and 14 stone (90kg). I have started to play rugby twice a week in which i play prop and i would like to use the gym to help me with the rugby.|||I am a certified personal fitness trainer and fitness instructor so I routinely set up fitness programs for clients. Any good fitness program will incorporate elements of the 3 fitness components - weight/resistance (which uses resistance training to tone and build muscle), cardio/aerobics conditioning (which strengthens the heart muscle and makes you more efficient and increases endurance for aerobic activity, like running or playing rugby), and flexibility training (stretching to decrease the risk for potential injury).

Based on your specific fitness goals, ie building muscle and using gym to prepare you for the rugby field, you will want to focus on resistance (weight-lifting type of actvities) and cardio (any activity that increases and maintains heart rate in your target heart rate zone for the duration of the activity.)

In developing a resistance program it is good to know how much you should be lifting. This will be individual to you, based on your fitness level, your body type, if your muscles are somewhat conditioned already etc. Most modern gyms have either trainers available to help you find what weight you should be lifting, or have pre-programmed machines that will guide you towards the weight you need. If not, you can figure it out yourself by trial and error. You should find the weight you can lift 8-12 times or reps before reaching muscle fatigue. That is probably about the weight you should be lifting at. (Most people start with one set of 8 reps and then as they get stronger, increase to 2-3 sets of 8-12 reps.) A few other things to remember about resistance training:

1. You should not work the same muscle group on consecutive days. In other words, if you do biceps curls on Monday, skip exercises involving biceps until Wednesday or later. Repetitive resistance training actually causes tiny tears in the muscle, which can develop into big tears if not given enough time to repair themselves.

2. Introduce a resistance program slowly. To start with, shoot for 3 days/week of resistance training, and then based on results, increase days. If you're lifting at your appropriate weight, you will be sore at first. If you do too much to start out with, because of lactic acid buildup in the muscles, it may discourage you from continuing. Challenge yourself, but go easy and be careful!

3. Make sure you incorporate some stretching, as well as warmups and cooldowns. This keeps your muscles flexible, improves range of motion, and seriously decreases your chances of getting hurt!

In developing a cardio program, you want your heart rate to go up (your Target Heart Rate Zone - calculated percentage by factors such as your age %26amp; weight) and stay there during your workout. Both indoor and outdoor activities count as aerobic or cardio: running/jogging, vigorous walking, elliptical, treadmill, swimming, dancing, and yes, rugby! If you use gym cardio equipment, they will most likely have programs built into them that can help you find and sustain your target HR. There are also Target HR calculator sites where you plug in your data and it will tell you your *estimated* target heart rate for your age group, such as this one: http://exercise.about.com/cs/fitnesstools/l/bl_THR.htm

Unlike resistance, cardio/aerobic activities can and should be done on consecutive days. If you're just starting out, try to go for at least 15-20 minutes 3xweek, increasing to 30 minutes, then 45, then an hour, 5x week. You want to give yourself at least one day off every week for your muscles to recover, as it is possible to overtrain otherwise.

It is not a bad idea to get pointers or advice from a local personal trainer. They can help you develop a tailored fitness program based on your needs and goals.

Hope this helps!|||hey, check out this blog, it helped me so i hope it helps you!

What should I write for my fitness paper?

I need some ideas about what to write. PLEASE HELP! It's due on Monday!|||You could give examples of a workout for cardio in the greatest amount of detail ever. Also explain the entire cardio system. Maybe you could fill up some of that space with a few pictures. And remember to always double space and that 12.5 font is the same as 12 point font.|||That's easy. Write about developing a cardiovascular training program for a specific goal (event, like a 10k run, or marathon). Use the FITT principle (frequency, intensity, time, type). Be sure to include progressions as you move closer to the event date and taper at the end so that the athlete is rested for the event. Good luck!

What are the current & up to date fitness standards to pass Air Force BMT for females?

Honestly, I keep finding different numbers everywhere I go. Some say 60 situps in 1 minute, others say 55 in 2 minutes. Does anyone have the true standards for females in the final fitness test?|||Bam..Here's a link for ya. http://usmilitary.about.com/od/airforce/鈥?/a> The minimum for pushups/situps is going to be around 35. Run time for a mile being around 8 minutes. The exact digits don't really matter. Just train as hard as you can and be prepared for anything. How to ease back into a fitness routine?

I have been off exercise for almost 3 weeks due to personal reasons and I have failed at keeping some sort of fitness schedule going and have gained 5lbs because of it. I really want to get back to exercising his week but i don't know how to go about doing it. Any suggestions?|||Yes i am agree with Roger..Fit for Living is providing best Fitness Training Process for Australian people. And people are getting more benefits who are residing in Geelong.|||Most people failed to to maintain their exercise routines because the longer they practiced it, it becomes boring and tiring. . I too have personal experience on that. I subscribe in a gym for 1 month. However, after 2 weeks of doing so, the passion was gone and its somehow showed as a burden for me. I am not enjoying it anymore. Then here comes my friend. he introduced me to a stuff called rebounder/mini trampoline. He said just by jumping on it, it will burn your calories equal like in the gym. So I bought one and tried it, and yeah its really effective plus enjoyable. All I need to do is jump jump jump and jump and enjoyed the feeling of bouncing over and over again. I burned around 200 calories in 10 minutes plus it improves my immune system. The good thing is its very enjoyable. I suggest to try it yourself too.

I have tried this kind of rebounder and its really good.|||I would first assess why you have stopped exercising. Determine what your "personal reasons" are %26amp; how you can find a way to fit exercise back into your life. You exercise plan must fit your lifestyle in order for you to be successful and committed to it. Set a large goal that you would like to achieve and break it into smaller parts that can be accomplished on a daily or weekly level, that way you will stay motivated to continue. Once you make exercise a part of your routine it will feel easy again.

I recommend water fitness and swimming for people that have suffered from an injury and want to get back to land exercise. It is nearly non-impact and you can still get a great workout. It feels easier in the water but you can still build muscle, endurance %26amp; stamina by using weights %26amp; resistance bands. Water provides 12 times the resistance of air.|||keep it simple.. keep workout sessions brief

What should I wear to an interview for a fitness club summer camp position?

I have an interview for a position as a summer camp counselor at a large fitness club (lifetime fitness) on saturday. The position is described as being very active, and in the initial phone call they told me their ideal candidate is someone who is very fun and active, willing to get down and play with the children.

What is the ideal level of fitness needed to join the army?

I just wanted to know what sort of fitness level would be good for joining the army. Im female and looking to join the dental corps and have started goin jogging etc. What standard should i reach and how have any of you done it or got on? Thanks in advance x|||As a female, you should start training on push-ups and sit-ups, as well as running. For men, the minimum requirement is like correct 35 push-ups in 2 minutes in the age range of 17-21. Females have to get no less than 13 correctly performed push-ups from the plank position in that same age group.

You should always strive to do better than is required to pass. That way, you can get the required amount whether you are in good health or having a bad day. So, strive for more like the 90-100% marker, rather than just to pass with a mimimum score. That would be 36-42 correctly done push-ups in 2 minutes time, with no breaks or rest.

http://www.usarec.army.mil/hq/apa/rc/apf鈥?/a>

Sit-ups are the same for both men and women, so you will need to do no less than 47 in 2 minutes to barely pass, and about 72-78 to score in the 90-100% range.

The run is actually a 2-mile run for now, though there is talk of changing this in the years to come. You will need to run 2 miles in 15 minutes and 36 seconds to score a 100, or 16:24 for a score of 90. So, you're looking at pushing yourself for a 7-minute to 8-minute mile for 2 miles straight.

The best way to train for that is to run 4-10 one-hundred yard sprints every day (lesser number on heavier run days), sprinting a full quarter mile at least 2x/ week, and running no less than 1.5 miles (on your light days, when you'd be running the most sprints), and up to 3 miles 2-3 times a week (on your light sprint days). After about 6 weeks of consistent training and progress, you should be up to this level if you are already running about 1.5 miles straight now.

Pull-ups are not a part of the Army PFT at this time, and were not part of it during my own time in service. We trained in it, but it was never tested. Again, there is talk of changing the testing requirements in the next few years.|||If you can run a mile in 8 minutes you are fine. Aim for that :)

x x x|||the first answer is right - to prepare you should run, run and run some more. You will be on your feet, running, marching, etc a LOT during basic training. It will also help if you work on pushups and pullups. Good luck!!

What is a good but simple fitness routine that someone can do at home?

Hi, I'm 17 and kinda thin and I've decided that this summer I would build up some muscle...

I don't live close to any good gyms so I'll only be able to go to one occasionally...

What's a good but simple fitness routine that can be done at home to build up some muscle? Thanks...|||Some basic but effective exercises that you can do at home without any equipment would be push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups(on a tree branch), and lifting and moving furniture is good if you don't want to buy any weights.

If you do want to buy some weights I would recommend dumbbells, which are the single hand-held weights and get an exercise ball. You can do some good stability exercises on the ball like presses and flyes. Sit-ups are good on a ball as well. Good thing about an exercise ball and dumbbells is that they easily store out of the way when not in use.|||vigorous SEX 1-3 times a day!

In this case however, it does not apply, because they are not calling the right house. What site can I enter personal statistics to find the best fitness equipment for me?

I'm 6'8" and 300lbs, trying to find info on fitness equipment for people my size. Specifically looking for recumbent bikes anbd elipitical machines.|||Hi there

I have worked in fitness equipment retail for 8 years now and have a Bachelor of Physical Education. To answer your question, it does not matter which peice of equipment you use as long as you're comfortable on it as all cardio equipment is mean't for weight loss or cardiovascular excercise. Ellipticals are good because they are low to no impact while still providing weight bearing activity to keep the bones strong. Problem with ellipticals is that you need to be able to put forth $2500 or more to get one that feels good, is biomechanically correct and can handle your "bigger" stature as you'll want something well built. Recumbent bikes are much cheaper, will provide you with cardio/weight loss excercise and are easy to use. Ellipticals are more efficient than the bikes because you use your entire body meaning more calories expended over a shorter period of time. People also tend to get bored on the bikes. My suggestion is to go to a gym and try them both before you buy. Last thing you want is to buy something that you don't like. As for a website, I am unsure of that. Try some of the fitness equipment manufacturing sites such as many times they will have helpful hints on buying the equipment. www.precor.com, www.iamstrong.ca (this one is more towards health and lifestyle and has testiomonials).

Hope this helps!|||How about health.com i think* that's a website|||Take a look at www.vectorfitness.com . They might be able to custom make fitness equipment for you.

How can I add a fitness element to my job?

My new job is semi-active, meaning I am on my feet for most of the day and get a lot of movement but it's not physically demanding as such.

I already walk to and from work, about half an hours walk each way and I go out and about at lunchtime. How can I incorporate some toning/firming, maybe some mild weightloss? It doesn't have to be drastic, just wondering if I can add some wellness/fitness to my day as it can't hurt.|||i would say ankle and wrist weights but it is not worth it because it can cause joint problems and more. just keep walking like you are doing right now it will be good for your heart but i do not know if you will lose weight form it|||During your tea-break or the time when you are eating lunch, you could tense and relax the muscles in your legs and arms, tense and hold for a count of five, release for a count of five and do 10-12 repetitions. It's not resistance training but you are doing a little toning...

Although, it sounds as if you are getting plenty of cardio as it is...|||Well, for one - take the stairs. Everywhere. That will firm your calves and legs.

Also, power walk everywhere. It's a good way to burn calories, and gives you some cardiovascular exercise.

As for your arms... well, this sounds cheesy, but maybe you could carry little weights with your while you are walking. Then swing them back and forth with your strides. I think that would be effective.

Also, if you want to tone your abs, I think you can try standing up straight, then leaning straight over to the side with your hands on your hips. It's supposed to slim down your waist, but it didn't work for me.

Hope that helps you out a bit.|||A very active job can be very demanding for some muscles (overtraining or straining them), and understimulating for others (leaving them to weaken).

In theory, gym work allows you to activate each muscle to an appropriate level, although in reality most people overdo exercises that feel good, and ignore others that are less obviously useful. At work, you can't really schedule the workload you apply to particular muscles, so it's hard to avoid falling into damaging patterns.

Alexander Technique can teach you to identify potentially damaging movement and postural habits, and provides exercises that can be used to counteract these tendencies.

For example, it's easy to become fatigued and fall into an unhealthy posture if you are on your feet all day, but by reminding yourself regularly that this can happen, and performing simple breathing techniques and postural corrections, you can turn the activity into an energising workout instead of a chore.

Lying on the floor with your feet elevated, each time you get the chance to take a break, will attract attention and mocking comments. However, these will stop when your colleagues realise how useful the technique is for preventing some of the negative effects of your workload.

Textured or sculptured footbeds can be inserted into your shoes to help you benefit from the massaging effect of walking about. Scholl and Arcipedico produce shoes that are supposed to produce a similar effect.|||Try nordic walking to and from work so you get exercise to your arms as well.

At the present time I do back, biceps and abs on Monday and Thursday and chest, shoulders, triceps and abs on Tuesday and Friday and fifteen minutes on the elliptical trainer each time. A trainer can show you the exercises for each of these body parts and the machines to use. You may want to consider the free weights later

What is better for your fitness: aerobics or water aerobics?

I am trying to get fit at the moment, and have been attending both aerobics and water aerobics, as well as going to a gym and going swimming. I was wondering which is better for your fitness, if any?|||Water aerobics put less pressure on your joints than an aerobic activity like running does. It's also supposed to be better for your arms and upper body because you have to work more muscles to swim than to run. Water aerobics also help you stay cooler, especially in the summer heat. I'd do both, but more water aerobics than aerobics.

If you really want to get fit I'd also do some strength training in addition to aerobics to make you toned looking as opposed to just skinny. Just start with like 50 situps 5 days a week and add on 10 every week. You can also do some biceps curls with 4 pound weights to make your arms toned. Good luck :]|||Both are same effective you need just to choose one and stick to it.

I recently started a fitness business, what are the best ways to advertise online?

I do free fitness coaching online helping people achieve their goals by becoming more fit and healthy.|||Depending on the town you are in, you need to get your site listed with everyone big in your town, like the chamber of commerce, the business directories, etc and so forth. There are online keyword tools to help you decide the correct number of such keywords to use to make sure you rank high in search engines when people look for your type of business online. Then I would make sure your website url is on ANY and ALL of your packaging and paperwork that you send out. I would consider getting your site into a web ring of other fitness sites. I would add a lot of online information that people can use, and that gives you credibility. i want to be a personal fitness trainer and i am curently studying p.e for gcse and am predicted an A. hopefully i will go to collage to study a levels: P.E and human biology and another one maybe art, my dream is to go to loughborough university and study, what kind of grades do i need to get from a levels to study there, will i need a foundation course or something extra to get in? thanks|||Hi there! You would be able to get into university with approximately 3 A-level grades A-C but choose your A'levels carefully because if a university has too many applications they would choose the applicant whose A'levels were more relevant to the course thay wished to study. If you are wanting to do Sport at University then obviously you should do PE and Biology but Art would be no use, Psychology may be a good option as Psychology features heavily in a lot of Sport degrees.

What is Aerobic Physical Fitness And Why is it important for everyone to be active?

Can you also give me a few ways how I can improve my Aerobic Physical Fitness? Thanks!|||According to WebMD, "Aerobic fitness increases the amount of oxygen that is delivered to your muscles, which allows them to work longer. Any activity that raises your heart rate and keeps it up for an extended period of time will improve your aerobic fitness."

http://www.webmd.com/fitness-exercise/tc鈥?/a>

You can improve your aerobic fitness by engaging in any cardio activity that raises your heart rate, makes you breathe harder, and ideally breaks you out in a sweat for 20 minutes or longer.

Examples:

Walking fast

Jogging

Hiking

Bicycling

Jumping rope

Climbing stairs

Swimming

In my experience, the easiest way to improve your aerobic fitness is to purchase a pedometer and aim for 10,000 steps a day MINIMUM. It's a lot harder than you think.

How do I start a career in fitness?

I am making a career change, from law to fitness. Fitness has been a lifelong passion of mine. As a kid, I skied (and taught skiing), danced (and taught dance), and ran. As an adult, I go to the gym 5 times a week; I do cardio, lift weights, go to classes, swim. I worked at a Y for a while, directing a youth fitness program (unfortunately the Y doesn't pay well enough). I have some Y certifications, and a BA that is totally unrelated to fitness (in economics), so I'm basically starting out from scratch. I don't know exactly what kind of career in fitness I might like to pursue... what are the options? I am looking for any and all starter tips. Classes, certifications, books, DVDs, websites/forums... anything to get my new career path started. Also, feel free to email me if you have lots of advice or if you think you can help/mentor. How can I maintain fitness through a stress fracture?

I just found out I have a stress fracture on both my shins. Its 2 weeks before my cross country season and I have 4 weeks rest. I am allowed to bike and swim though. Is there anything else I can do to keep my fitness up and help it heal quicklier? I really want to qualify to state.|||you could try running in shallow water (like 4 or 5 feet deep) my cross country team goes to an indoor pool sometimes when it rains and we do that. It is actually hard work. The water starts to flow around the pool in a weird way when the whole team is doing it and that makes for more resitance. You could also try using once of those stationary bikes that is designed to fit under your desk. You can also use those by putting you hands on the petals to exercise your arms. You could lift weights with your upper body.|||Biking and swimming should be easy for you if you are a cross country runner. So, instead of just doing real long distances of either, do intervals. Long, long intervals and hard. You want your heart rate to be very high during the interval.

A ten-percent increase in heart rate does not mean a ten-percent increase in calories burned or work expended. It's usually much more than ten-percent. The increase is exponential. So keeping your heart rate at 160 isn't nearly as difficult as forcing your heart to jump up to 180 and then relax for a little back at 140 before spiking up to 180. And the more it works your heart, the better you'll run.|||Just rest your shins and biking and swimming is the only thing i know of that will keep your fitness up and wont be too hard on your shins. Good luck!! :)

What materials are needed to build a model of a fitness center?

I would really like to start a fitness club at my high school?

So I was wondering what you guys think. I wanted some advice on how I could start this up, promote it, and eventually a little advice on how to run it (I already have a good idea, as fitness and nutrition are two of my favorite subjects).

Also, If anyone has a successful fitness club, please share how it runs. Thanks everyone|||I think it's a great idea. Most kids in school now don't get nearly the exercise they need to stay fit. I'd start with asking other people what they think of your idea and see how many would be interested in such a program. Then go to the board with your ideas but make sure you have all the information you need first, such as how much it would cost to implement such a program and how many students would like to participate in it , school boards like to know if it will be worth they're while to fund something like this) Also stress the importance of fitness and nutrition in the schools do some research on statistics so you can really make your point. If they balk on money issues try pitching fund raising ideas like car washes etc to help raise the money needed. Getting the board on your side is key. And don't give up on your idea get teachers students counselers etc on your side and start brain storming with them give them a chance ot have lot of input so they feel like they are a big part of it too. Good Luck

How do I improve fitness in a week?

I'm not talking about losing weight.

I've been training some for a physical fitness test required for a job I'm applying for...I have to do 18-22 pushups, run 1.5 miles in 14-15:20 minutes, and do at least 28 situps in a minute.

Currently, I have not made the 1.5 miles in 15 minutes. I'm a couple of minutes shy. I've been doing pushups every day, but not as good about running. Now it is crunch time.

I was just informed this morning that my test is next thursday. We did not have more notice than this. What should I do in the meantime to maximize the little time I have left to train?

Please realize I'm not looking for miracles, I know you can't get into the best shape of your life in one week's time, but this is what I have to work with. How can I do it best?

Any suggestions would be appreciated!|||Its commonly held in triathlete circles that you get the benefit of today's workout in two weeks.

Sorry, not much you can do in terms of fitness at this point. Its kind of hard to make suggestions, not knowing where you are in terms of fitness and miles per week.

Typically, endurance athletes 'taper' before big events, i.e., do their last really long runs 2-3 weeks before, then gradually reduce mileage leading to a couple days of rest right before the big event.

I guess 'practicing' by doing your hardest runs in the 2 days before the test would be a bad idea......

Whatever you decide to do, you don't want to be tired and sore the day of. If it was me, I'd probably just continue running easy this week, maybe swim a couple miles easy 2 days before to stay loose, and rest the day before.|||Thanks, - I'm certainly not expecting a miracle fitness level in a matter of days, but I did want to maximize the small amount of time I do have.

How much does it cost at 24 fitness for a month?

I go to college and during winter break i would like to get in shape and i was wondering does 24 fitness let you buy just a 1 month pass? If so how much would it be? Also my younger brother wants to go also do they allow 14 year old kids to get memberships too? If 24 fitness doesn't does anyone know any other place? Thank you very much.|||You can sometimes get a school discount or employer discount. Not sure how much it costs for just a month. but if you get an annual or yearly membership, it costs about $30/month if its a sports facility. Some people I know have gotten a much better deal by going for a single gym membership instead of country-wide membership . Also if you get a 2 or 3 year membership, its even cheaper.

How to be a good sales person when selling fitness apparel?

I just got a job at a store that sells well known guys and girls fitness clothes.. All the clothes are tight, all the sales people seem to be females. I don't know what to do to sell, flirt with the males? What if they want my number how do u reject them.. I dont know what to do|||Dear Sarah,

Never flirt or use false tactics... it will eventually land you into trouble.

Here's how to close many sales:

1. Always be prepared with a number of questions. Who ever is asking the questions will always maintain control of the conversation.

2. When the customer asked you a question always answer honestly and follow it up with another question. AGAIN - Who ever is asking the questions maintains control of the conversation.

When they give you an idea of what they are looking for and ask you a tricky question like "Does it come in Red?" do not reply with "I'll have a look for you.! Always respond with a question like... "Would you like one in red?" As this type of question will help you close the sale.

I recommend reading a sales book by Top Hopkins as he is one of the planets greatest salesmen. He took me from making an average income to being the top salesman in my field at the time.

I think his website is tom hopkins dot com but don鈥檛 quote me on that.

Also you can flirt-esp. if you get commission lol j/k but you can tell them that you can't give that out at work or maybe be secretive about it. But hope this helps :-)|||flirt with no one.

if you want to sell be Professional not personal.

keep those simple rules:

1. never obsequious.

2. always focus on the product and their value to the customer.

3. be assertive. go to the point.

4. always apply human dignity.

5. always put yourself in the shoes of the customer. imagine you are him.

6. always see your self selling the most.

7. you are number 1 seller !
