I was wondering if there are any exercises to do to keep my leg endurance up because I live out in a country-ish area so there are no streets to run on. There is only a dirt/gravel road and we get a lot of snow. Does anyone know what my best option would be to improve/maintain my fitness?|||You just have to take a step back and realize that you're not completing a marathon and slow things up, do what you can when you can, if you can't do your usual miles then that's ok, just do what you can.
On those really bad snow days, you could always get a treadmill or stationary bike or just take it as an ''elected day off'''.
Myself I'm out in all sorts of the weather plowed roads or not bc I'll be in better condition come spring time.|||Have you heard of the runner Emil Zapotek. He was an olympic distance running champion. He had to train by running in the snow. He then won the Olympics 10K. He the decided to run the marathon and won that too.
My advice to you. Get some good boots, and start running on your dirt road.
You can also get a treadmill. Some marathoner champions use treadmills in the winter and summer. I also like to run on treadmills.
|||where do you live that gets soo much snow you can't run?
i watched this movie during my cross country practice once and there was a norwegian runner running on roads where there were FEETS of snow....i thing you just have to bundle up...but i mean....if its like a blizzard outside or it's impossible to run then take a few days of...run on a treadmill |||I would do as many excercises as you possibly can in your house and if you do have some sort of gym thats near you, i would definitly go there... if you dont just keep doing excercises in your house as much as you can. Also if you have a tredmile than that would be GREAT!!!|||While it isn't ideal, what about running on a treadmill? I'm assuming there is nowhere with an indoor track. I have seen people running on the inside of a basketball gym too.|||Run thru that snow!!!! It may be slow, but heck you'd probably be in pretty good shape afterwards. Rocky did it in Rocky IV, give it a shot
